Uber Crafters of Etsy 1st Meeting

8-8-08:This really made me see what a talented and diverse group of crafters we have going here :)Our 1st meeting was a success, see the photos!

Members that were there (and a couple of guests) include:
Michelle (myself)
Julie
Desiree
Andrea (guest)
Cynthia (guest)
Wendy (& tiny person :) )
Doreen
It was nice to finally be able to meet some of you!

We each introduced ourselves and told a little about what we do as crafters. Each passed around a craft that they had done as a sampling of work. Let me just say, UNBELIEVEABLE crafters here in this group...and we had a little of everything!

Beaded jewelry, seed beaded items, chainmaille, wooden sign items, crochet, magnets, and other assorted amazing craft items!

Julie showed us her store, Hands On 4 Kidz, and told us what she does there with the children. It's such a fun place and we also learned how we can benefit from her knowledge and from her store. Those of you that were not in attendance, please email Julie for more info.

We talked about how FreeCycle can be such a great place for supplies, we traded a few supplies, brought canned goods for the less fortunate in our area. We also talked about ordering supplies in bulk for bigger savings.

We also brought up teaching classes on our individual craft and how much of a great thing that would be for our small towns.I passed out a small press release and some assorted info, if you were not there (and are a member) and would like a copy, please send me your address and I will get you out a copy.

We only touched quickly on our upcoming craft show and I think that next meeting should be focused on that. Tentative dates are November 29/30.

Friday evenings seem like a good day for all of us, and meetings will be usually held then. We thought once-twice a month would be best, I think closer to the show/fair, we may want to meet more than less, but we can cross that bridge later.

We snacked on some yummy hummus with pita, cupcakes and, Reese's.....and I, for one, had a vat of coffee :)

In closing, what does everyone think of our next meeting being Friday, August 29? Same Bat Time, Same Bat Place?

Uber Crafters on Etsy

Our Team on Etsy! There are so many wonderful artists out in this area that I had to start this group. We are hoping to host our own Holiday craft show this fall/winter. To be kept up to date, join our team, or become a vendor, please email me at:

BadaBingVintage@aol.com Info will be emailed to you as it is available.
The pictures with the children are from one of our members, Julie's business. The shop is called Hands On 4 Kidz and you can reach her at HandsOn4Kidz@aol.com

Jingle, Jingle, Jingle

All Eleanor wanted to do was play with the jinglies on my skirt! I can never wear this skirt there again! Eleanor (and I apologize now for possibly spelling her name wrong) is my daughter's kitty. She has the most amazing long whiskers. She is little and VERY playful! After this I had to get some yarn so she would not totally rip my skirt to shreds! She had a lot of fun with the yarn :)

Airport '08

No, not Leslie Nielson...

Ro off to Florida for vacation!

Not too bad of a wait, easy check in, etc. VERY early morning though! I wonder when this is going to catch up with me....Here's a neat pic of the sun rising. Something I see WAY too often lately.

Cool thing, I was lucky enough to meet and talk to for couple of minutes (did not want to bother her for a picture though) Shannon Sylvia from Ghost Hunters International! http://www.scifi.com/ghi/team/sylvia.html I love both of the Ghost Hunter shows and watch them every week, so this was pretty cool. She & her husband were very nice and she actually seemed surprised that I recognized her. My favorite show (besides Family Guy) and they're from Leominster (my hometown), yup, I recognized them immediately. The GHI shirt didn't hurt either :)

ACK!

Urgh....it's been a rough couple of day....I have gotten absolutely nothing accomplished. I will be attempting to fix that today.

Poor Tiger the cat. He is skinny and kind of frail, not in the best of shape. I got him some medicine and he goes back to the vet next week. Poor little guy.
Tiger is on the right, his brother Travis is giving him a "nooga" (nose kiss). My son has them on his lap.

Not sticky anymore!!! Yay!

FINALLY!!! It's not sticky and hot anymore! Those last few days were awful.
Busy, busy, busy, day today....still applying for "real" jobs, goin' thrifting or antiquing...kind of depends on where we end up and how much they charge will decide that factor.
Thank you SO much to Amy, Marn, & Wendy for the awesome job references! And pointers!
I do not seem to be able to link this with my favorites, but you have to chek out (daily) the Toothpaste for Dinner site! I won't spoil it...

A New Day!

Well, I have finally started a blog. Whattya know....pigs do fly....
I hope for this to be a place that like minded people can come and get inspiration and, I in turn, can get inspiration from them.
I do have a very *different* sense of humor, you'll see in some of my chosen favorite blogs and websites. I hope you check them out as they have all been such an inspiration to me and, on not so inspiring days, a hell of a good laugh!
